I’m excited to announce that Gemsona Week is back for it’s second year !! Please reblog this post to let everyone know gemweek is back!

_{I’ve received a surprisingly steady stream of asks over the past year about when the next gemweek was going to be. I hope that means everyone had a good time in 2014 and want to participate again this year! 
(I apologize for the short notice! It was suddenly very clear that March, the week of the 12th in particular, would be my last chance to host a gemweek/gemfusion project for another 4-5 months.)}

• 2015 is a good year for the gemsona fandom. If you get out to cons this year, consider cosplaying your gemsona! 
  
• SDCC attendees: COSPLAY YOUR GEMSONA WITH ME THIS YEAR! I’m going to be cosplaying Dorey for the Steven Universe panel and organizing gemsona group photos afterwards.

✧ ✧ What is Gemsona Week? ✧ ✧

Gemsona Week is a fandom appreciation week for the animated series Steven Universe. A “gemsona” is a portmanteau of “crystal gem” and “persona”- typically fans create crystal gem characters based on themselves, though some prefer not to. There are daily prompts all week and often the gemsona community organizes their own second daily prompts in the tags or gemsona chat. Also, interacting with other artists through your gemsonas is encouraged! Lots of people made friends last year.
Gemsona Week’s biggest event is easily the GemFusion Project- artists submit their gemsonas to the blog’s fusion list and are randomly selected in pairs/groups to design a totally original gemsona fusion.

I learned a lot last year, I think this year’s gemweek will go a lot smoother. I’ll be making posts very soon about how submissions will work this year and other changes, please follow this blog if you’re interested in participating as I’ll be posting reminders and deadlines for the fusions. Now go update your gemsona art!!
