So this was brought to my attention through Facebook. It is just what it looks like. Someone selling a shirt exploiting and supporting the real issue of mail order brides and the racism and fetish from men, in particular white men, who come to the Philippines to ‘claim’ a Pilipina wife or gf as their perfect, submissive, exotic, trinket, housewife.
The shirt says, “MY WIFE IS IMPORTED FROM PHILIPPINES. GUARANTEED.”
It is absolutely disgusting and wrong because this shirt treats Pinay women as nothing more than products, as things to be imported from an islands and poverty stricken nation, to a white man in the West for his desires. It’s saying, “oh look! This right here is my wife! Ya she came from the Philippines! She is a good wife!” Ugh. Just writing that makes me disgusted.
Pinay women (and men, because men, especially little boys as young as 6, face this as well), are not “things” to be exported and imported for your sick, twisted, pleasure. We are human beings. We live, breathe, and do what it takes to survive and serve and protect our families and deserve the same respect and dignity as any other human being.
My sisters are not your mail order brides. We are not your perfect wives. We are not here to fulfill your needs and fantasies. We are not here to worship you. We are not here to be exported and imported from country to country like an item bought as a part of modern human trafficking and buying and showcasing us to your friends and family as the snatched exotic beauty from the islands of Southeast Asia.
This seller on Etsy, Teeburon, is supporting all of that through selling this shirt. I ask all my followers to share this link and etsy shop to tell everyone not to support this seller and their racism.
I ask if all of you can take the time and report this (the report link is toward the bottom right of the page right under the tags) if you have an Etsy account. If you can message the seller and voice your thoughts and concerns regarding this racist and fetishism shirt toward Pilipin@s, in particular Pinay women, and request for them to take this shirt down.
Here is the link to the seller.

From personal experiences with extended family it’s disturbing how these White males describe their Filipina wives as possessions. I’d highly recommend finding a copy of the 2002 Canadian documentary Say I Do: Unveiling the Stories of Mail Order Brides (trailer).
